Imagine a life surrounded by dozens of feline friends, nestled in the serene beauty of a Greek island, with the Aegean Sea as your backdrop. For one fortunate individual, this idyllic scenario is about to transform from a dream into a lucrative reality.
God’s Little People Cat Rescue has recently taken to Facebook to post a unique job opportunity that has captured the imagination of cat lovers worldwide. The role? To care for a colony of 55 cats on the picturesque island of Syros.
Perks of the Purr-fect Position
For their dedication, the chosen candidate will enjoy a rent-free home situated within a nature reserve, offering breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. In addition to this, they will be provided with a car, a living wage, and, of course, the company of 55 delightful cats.
The Origins of the Rescue
Until now, God’s Little People has been a local cat rescue operation, quietly run by the dynamic duo of Joan and Richard Bowell. After their relocation to Syros a few years ago, the couple embarked on a mission to care for the island’s many stray cats. They collaborated with veterinarians to enhance the lives of those in feral colonies.
However, with the Bowells set to move to New York for work commitments, they find themselves in search of a dedicated and passionate individual to take over the mantle of their beloved cat rescue. The job posting has understandably garnered significant attention.
Mr. Bowell shared with the Telegraph, “It went viral and people have been phoning from all over the world.”
Qualities of the Ideal Candidate
The Bowells are seeking a mature and genuinely passionate cat lover who is well-versed in handling multiple cats and enjoys their company. While a veterinary degree is not a prerequisite, the ideal applicant should possess advanced cat-whispering skills and be adept at managing feral cats.
Application Frenzy
With over 3,000 applications and counting, the competition for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is fierce. The position is set to begin in November, and for those who cannot resist the call of the cats, the application guidelines are available for review.
